Five Years of Coffee Anniversaries

So, I can't believe it, but my husband and I just celebrated five years since our very first date. Every year we try to go to our little coffee shop and sit at our little table...

It's a tradition I hope to carry on well into our 80's (may we be that couple!).  We're in it for the long haul, so that coffee shop better be in it for the same, that's all I'm sayin'!!

Anyways, as I was rushing around, it got me thinking about what a difference a few years can make!

Back then, for our first date, I was looking my finest....
Fast forward 5 years, and you've got a mother of two still wanting to knock her guy's socks off, but also staring reality of house and home and two little ones squarely in the face.

Where, five years prior, I was well-dressed, my current life just has me excited to have at least taken a shower and brushed my teeth. (I know, GROSS, right?!  But I can't be the first one to get into the afternoon hours and realize they forgot to do something!!).

What about you guys?
What has changed for you since love and marriage?

Still rockin' it in the "hotness" department?

Are you laughing at all their jokes
and carrying on witty conversation like you once had?

Or giving them that undivided attention?...

And, how are those legs, ladies?  Smoother than a baby's bottom?

I know that I have definitely let a few of the above slip a little (and I'm not saying which ones!), but I assure you, even when I'm dog tired, even when I feel overwhelmed with life stuff, and things just aren't so perfect...

....with ALL my heart,
                                  I LOVE THAT MAN.

So even if I may have not had a long enough window to shave...AGAIN...that heart of mine still fits just as perfectly into his as the day we sat down for that first cup at our first table...

Happy Anniversary, Baby...I'm so grateful God chose you for my life.

Humble Beginnings

So this is definitely a first for me...I really can't say I'd ever imagined my having a blog, but looking back, I suppose my characteristic sarcastic charm towards the matter was evidence to the contrary!

Goal of this whole endeavor?

Hmmm...I think it's the beautiful matter of my just wanting to expose real life, such as it is.  Life is hard and amazing and rewarding and enduring and just so perfect in all of its imperfections.

Have I had the easy life, just coasting along, enjoying the ride, such as they say?

Hardly.

I've been battered, tattered, and bruised just like the rest of you all...in some ways less, in some ways more, in some ways the same?  Perhaps...but how can you even measure something like that, in terms of every day living.

So this life...
It's beautiful...and imperfect...and AMAZING...because I've discovered it's about what's in your center that determines how you see it.  For me, it's about Christ and my crazy family and love.

What's makes your world go 'round when you just can't go 'round no mo'...
What's the core of your heart made of?

And now to end the first of what I hope are many blogs...I've got the most amazing little girl just staring at me right now and a son equally matched in the amazement department that is vying for my attention...I'm so in love with them...get a few blogs in and you will be too...they're catchy like that, those little buggers! :)

Til then...
